## What is Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD)?

Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD) is an Ethereum token issued by a decentralized finance protocol. It is designed to represent a balanced position with 50% exposure to Bitcoin (BTC) and 50% exposure to the US dollar, combining exposure to both in one instrument. BTCD is not Bitcoin itself, and its ticker should not be confused with “Bitcoin dominance,” a market statistic that measures Bitcoin’s share of the total crypto market.

## What is BTCD used for?

The protocol’s stated purpose is to let users hold a managed BTC-and-dollar position while seeking returns from the assets’ deployment. Its USD Vault accepts USDC and directs deposits into strategies intended to maintain BTC-neutral positioning. The protocol says those strategies can generate returns from productive allocation across BTC- and USD-denominated positions, with volatility-based strategies as a possible supplementary source during market movements. These aims do not guarantee a particular allocation, return, or stable value for BTCD.

sBTCD is described as the yield-bearing staked counterpart to BTCD, accruing returns through underlying strategies. The Bitcoin Carry Vault, which is planned, would use BTC collateral to borrow stablecoins for yield strategies. A bdBTC Vault is also in development. FISC is described as a governance token that has not yet launched, so it should not be treated as an available token.

## Supply, Ethereum and market data

BTCD is issued on Ethereum and is not listed as the native token of a blockchain. The protocol uses Morpho isolated lending markets as core infrastructure for its vault strategies. The project has also received backing from Polygon Labs and Coinme; that fact alone does not establish a guarantee, partnership role, or protection for token holders.

As of 2026-11-05, reported circulating and total supply were both about 1.70 million BTCD, with no maximum supply reported. The token’s market capitalization was about $1.6 million and its 24-hour trading volume was about $7,842 at that time. These figures change, and they do not indicate how easily a holder can sell. BTCD was reported at about $0.92 on that date; the reported all-time high was $1.06 on 2026-09-23. A design that targets balanced BTC and USD exposure is not the same as a guaranteed dollar peg.

## Risks to understand

BTCD involves both token-market risk and risks from the protocol’s vaults. Its value may not match the intended 50/50 exposure, and BTC price movements, trading liquidity, fees, or rebalancing may affect holders. Vault strategies can lose money, while lending markets can introduce collateral, liquidation, counterparty, and smart-contract risks. A stablecoin used in a strategy can also lose its intended value. Past or stated yield sources do not assure future returns.

The project’s Bitcoin Carry Vault is still planned and its bdBTC Vault is in development, so their eventual operation and risks are not established by those descriptions. Protocol changes, vulnerabilities, or interruptions could affect access to funds. BTCD’s reported market capitalization and volume are relatively limited snapshots, not a promise of liquidity. Review the current protocol documentation, vault terms, and token details before interacting, and only risk funds you can afford to lose.

## How to store BTCD

Because BTCD is issued on Ethereum, it should be held only in a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens. For self-custody, secure the recovery phrase offline and never share it; anyone with access to that phrase may be able to control the wallet. Check the token’s official contract details through the project’s verified channels before adding or transferring it. A ticker or token name alone is not enough to identify the right asset, and incorrect transfers may be difficult or impossible to reverse.

Using a protocol vault or staking product is different from simply holding BTCD in a wallet. Depositing tokens can add smart-contract and strategy risks, and withdrawals may be subject to the product’s rules or liquidity. Custodial platforms may also impose their own access and withdrawal terms. No storage method removes the risk that BTCD’s value or the assets behind a strategy may fall.

By the numbers

Bitcoin Dollar in numbers

Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD) is ranked #2,656 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.49M and a price of $0.8973 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($1.49M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 1.6% over 7 days, down 5.2% over 30 days. It trades about 15% below its all-time high of $1.06, set on Sep 23, 2026.

About 1.66M BTCD are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $6.04K, or 0.4% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

BTCD has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

BTCD FAQs

What is Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD)?

BTCD is designed to provide a 50/50 exposure to BTC and the US dollar through one token. That design does not guarantee a fixed price or an exact allocation at all times.

What is BTCD used for?

The protocol describes BTCD as its token for balanced BTC/USD exposure, with returns potentially generated through underlying strategies. sBTCD is the yield-bearing staked counterpart; FISC is described as a governance token that has not yet launched.

What is the supply of BTCD?

BTCD is issued on Ethereum. The reported circulating and total supply were each about 1.70 million as of 2026-11-05, and no maximum supply was reported.

Is BTCD a stablecoin?

No. BTCD is designed for balanced BTC and US-dollar exposure, but this does not amount to a guaranteed dollar peg. Its market price and the value of assets or strategies involved can change.

What are the risks of holding BTCD?

BTCD carries price, liquidity, smart-contract, lending-market, and vault-strategy risks. Yield is not guaranteed, and a strategy or stablecoin used by the protocol may lose value.

How can I store BTCD?

Use a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens and confirm the official token details before transferring. Keep any recovery phrase private and secure; holding BTCD in a vault or staking product adds risks beyond wallet storage.

What is the market cap of Bitcoin Dollar?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Bitcoin Dollar had a market cap of about $1.49M, ranking #2,656 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of BTCD?

Bitcoin Dollar's all-time high is $1.06, reached on Sep 23, 2026. Its all-time low is $0.8887 (Sep 15, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of BTCD?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 1.66M BTCD were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is BTCD on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum.
