## What Is Bitcoin 2 (BTC2)?
Bitcoin 2 (BTC2) is a cryptocurrency associated with a Bitcoin fork. It is a separate project from Bitcoin (BTC), not a new name for BTC and not, based on public information, a Bitcoin Layer 2. The project describes its network as designed for faster payments and private transactions. Its consensus method is Proof of Stake (PoS), rather than Bitcoin’s Proof of Work mining.
Bitcoin 2 also describes Masternodes as part of its payment verification system and the Zerocoin protocol as a way to support private transactions. These are project-described features, not guarantees that a payment is instant or that every transaction is private. BTC2 should be assessed as its own network and token, with its own software, security assumptions and adoption. Its name alone does not mean it inherits Bitcoin’s network, development process or security.
## How BTC2 Is Used
BTC2 is described as the network’s currency and as a token that can receive block rewards through the Proof of Stake system. The project says people can contribute to running the blockchain with basic computer hardware, but participation requirements, reward rules and any minimum stake should be checked against current official project documentation before relying on them. Masternodes are also described as helping verify payments; their exact requirements and role may differ from ordinary staking.
The stated uses include making payments on the Bitcoin 2 network and supporting private transactions through Zerocoin. Public sources do not establish wider uses such as governance, access to particular applications, or payment across other blockchains. BTC2 is not interchangeable with BTC: a BTC address or wallet may not support BTC2, and sending one asset to an address for the other can result in loss. Confirm the asset and network before any transfer.
## Supply and Market Context
Bitcoin 2 has a stated maximum supply of 21 million BTC2. At the time of writing, on November 5, 2026, about 17.95 million were reported in circulation, matching the reported total supply. The difference between circulating supply and the cap represents tokens not currently counted as circulating; it does not by itself explain when or how any remaining tokens may enter circulation. Review the project’s current issuance rules for that detail.
On the same date, BTC2 was priced at about $0.059, with a market capitalization of roughly $1.1 million and reported 24-hour trading volume of about $10,000. These are time-sensitive figures, not a measure of guaranteed liquidity or future value. Trading can be thin, and displayed prices may differ between venues. BTC2’s historical market performance has included substantial declines, so past price movements should not be treated as a forecast or a guide to future returns.
## Risks and Storage
BTC2 carries the risks of a small, separate cryptocurrency project. Limited trading activity can make it difficult to exchange a meaningful amount at a displayed price. The network also depends on its software, validators and Masternodes continuing to operate securely. The project’s privacy and payment-speed descriptions should not be taken as proof that transactions are untraceable or always confirmed quickly. Technical changes, bugs, low participation, loss of interest and regulatory changes can affect the network and token.
Use a wallet that explicitly supports BTC2 on the Bitcoin 2 network; do not assume a Bitcoin wallet or a wallet for another chain can hold it safely. Check the receiving network and address format before sending, and consider a small test transfer when appropriate. Keep recovery phrases and private keys offline and private, and beware of fake support accounts or unfamiliar wallet downloads. If access credentials are lost or exposed, transactions may be irreversible and funds may not be recoverable.
By the numbers
Bitcoin 2 in numbers
Bitcoin 2 (BTC2) is ranked #2,977 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.06M and a price of $0.0589 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($1.06M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was up 0.2% over 7 days, up 4.7% over 30 days, down 60.0% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $36.05, set on Jun 6, 2019.
About 17.95M BTC2 are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 21M (85% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $9.96K, or 0.9% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
