## What is Bifrost (BNC)?
Bifrost is a liquid-staking protocol designed to let users stake certain proof-of-stake assets while retaining tokens that can be used in other applications. Its ecosystem issues liquid staking tokens, often called vTokens, to represent staked assets and their associated claims. These tokens may be transferable or usable in decentralized finance, but their availability and uses depend on the asset and supported applications. BNC is Bifrost’s project token; it is not itself a general-purpose label for every liquid-staking asset the protocol issues. Bifrost is described as a multi-chain protocol, but that does not mean every chain or asset is supported at all times. Check the protocol’s current documentation and interface before depositing funds, and confirm which network and token you are using. Liquid staking can make staked assets more usable, but it does not remove the risks of staking or of DeFi.
## What is BNC used for?
BNC is reported as a token used for governance and transaction fees within Bifrost’s Polkadot and Kusama environments. Governance may let eligible holders participate in decisions about protocol parameters or upgrades, though the exact voting process and current rights can change. A token used for fees can also be needed to submit or interact with transactions on the relevant network. Do not assume that holding BNC automatically earns staking rewards: the protocol’s liquid-staking products and their underlying assets are separate from the BNC token’s reported roles. BNC is also categorized as a yield-farming token by some market listings, but that label alone does not establish a reward, yield rate, or deposit feature. Before using BNC in an application, verify that it supports the specific token and network, and understand any lockups, fees, or conditions that apply.
## Supply and supported chains
BNC is listed as issued on Polkadot; public sources do not identify it as the native token of a chain. Some descriptions associate Bifrost with both Polkadot and Kusama, but users should verify the destination network and the token contract or asset identifier before transferring funds. As of November 5, 2026, reported circulating supply was about 37.5 million BNC, with total supply and maximum supply both 80 million. These figures can change as tokens enter circulation, and circulating supply is not the same as the number available to trade. A maximum supply is not a promise that all tokens are currently circulating or that their value will rise. If you are checking a wallet or exchange, compare its network details with Bifrost’s official information; sending tokens to an incompatible network or address can result in permanent loss.
## Risks and storage
BNC carries market risk: its price can move sharply, and past performance does not indicate what it will do next. Protocol risks also matter. Liquid staking depends on the underlying blockchain’s staking rules and validator performance, while a liquid staking token may trade below the value of the asset it represents or become difficult to redeem. Smart-contract flaws, governance decisions, network outages, bridge or cross-chain failures, and changing application support can add further risks. These are distinct from ordinary wallet or exchange risks, such as phishing, lost recovery phrases, or choosing the wrong network. Store BNC only in a wallet that explicitly supports its correct network and asset format, and protect the recovery phrase offline. For larger holdings, consider a hardware wallet if compatible, but check transaction details before signing. No storage method eliminates the risk of user error or protocol failure.
By the numbers
Bifrost in numbers
Bifrost (BNC) is ranked #4,263 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $349K and a price of $0.009317 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $745K, so roughly 47% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was up 4.5% over 7 days, down 15.5% over 30 days, down 89.9% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $6.14, set on Nov 3, 2021.
About 37.48M BNC are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 80M (47% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $68.5K, or 20% of its market cap: high turnover.
BNC has token contracts on Polkadot. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

BNC FAQs
What is BNC used for?
BNC is reported to serve as a governance and transaction-fee token in Bifrost’s Polkadot and Kusama environments. Check current protocol documentation for the exact functions available to holders.
Is BNC a liquid staking token?
Bifrost is a liquid-staking protocol that issues tokens representing staked assets. These liquid staking tokens are distinct from BNC, the project token.
Which blockchain is BNC on?
BNC is listed as issued on Polkadot, and it is not identified here as the native token of a chain. Verify the network and asset details before sending it to a wallet or exchange.
What is the supply of BNC?
As of November 5, 2026, circulating supply was about 37.5 million BNC, and the stated total and maximum supply were 80 million. Supply figures can change, so check current information before relying on them.
How can I store BNC?
Use a wallet that supports BNC on the correct network, and keep your recovery phrase private and offline. A compatible hardware wallet may be an option; confirm the asset and network before signing or sending transactions.
What is the market cap of Bifrost?
As of Nov 6, 2026, Bifrost had a market cap of about $349K, ranking #4,263 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of BNC?
Bifrost's all-time high is $6.14, reached on Nov 3, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.008637 (Oct 30, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
