LISA Review 2026: Liquid Staking Tokens on Stacks

LISA is a liquid staking protocol centred on Stacks that issues tokens such as LiSTX, LiALEX and LiaBTC. Its yield claims are attractive, but on-chain TVL is small and several marketing numbers are not independently confirmed.

Our verdict on LISA

6.5/10

LISA suits Stacks users who hold STX or ALEX, and Bitcoin holders curious about Babylon yield. They get an LST rather than idle tokens. Its strength is breadth: three yield routes, two token designs and recognisable ecosystem partners. The main caveat is verification. On-chain TVL is far below the homepage figure, audit counts differ, and fees are described only loosely. Start small, read the audit reports and treat the advertised yields as variable.

What is LISA?

LISA is a liquid staking protocol focused on the Stacks ecosystem. It issues liquid staking tokens for STX (LiSTX), ALEX (LiALEX) and Bitcoin (LiaBTC), with a stablecoin product, LiaUSD, listed as upcoming. DefiLlama describes it as brought to you by ALEX, Ryders Fast Pool and Xverse Pool.

The homepage promotes high yields: about 10% for LiSTX and about 5.5% for LiALEX. It also claims 13+ supported networks, $570K+ in rewards paid and $10.46M+ TVL. DefiLlama shows much less, about $338K TVL on Stacks, with a 7-day change of +14.3%. The two numbers may count different things, but the project does not say.

LISA has no token of its own listed in the data. It has been on DefiLlama since April 2024, and the project's X account is LisaLab_BTC.

How LISA works

Liquid staking lets you earn staking yield without leaving your assets idle. You deposit a supported token, such as STX, and the protocol stakes it. In return you get a liquid staking token (LST) that represents your stake and can be held, traded or used in other DeFi apps.

LISA pays rewards after each participating cycle ends. For LiSTX, the average cycle is bi-weekly and the yield comes from Stacks stacking. LiALEX takes yield from the ALEX staking system. LiaBTC routes BTC to Babylon through XLink and the Cobo API.

Tokens come in two designs. Rebasing tokens increase the number of tokens in your wallet as rewards accrue. Yield-bearing tokens keep your balance the same, but each token becomes worth more over time.

Key features

01

LiSTX for STX stacking

LiSTX represents STX stacked on Stacks. The project says every stacked STX takes part in Stacks consensus to earn yield, with an average bi-weekly cycle.

02

LiALEX for ALEX holders

LiALEX earns yield from the staking system of the ALEX AMM DEX. The homepage cites up to about 5.5% yield.

03

LiaBTC Bitcoin staking

LiaBTC uses XLink to stake Bitcoin on Babylon through the Cobo API. The aim is to earn BTC yield while supporting transaction finality.

04

Rebasing and yield-bearing LSTs

The protocol supports rebasing tokens, which grow in count, and yield-bearing tokens, which grow in value, so holders can pick the model they prefer.

05

LST deployment for projects

Other projects can have a liquid staking token deployed for their own token, with multi-sig security and support for many networks.

06

Points and loot boxes

LISA's homepage says LiALEX stakers earn points and mystery loot boxes (testimonial quote). The details are not covered publicly.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Covers three different yield sources: Stacks stacking, ALEX staking and Babylon Bitcoin staking.
  • Supports both rebasing and yield-bearing token designs.
  • Backed by known Stacks ecosystem names such as ALEX, Xverse Pool and Ryder, according to DefiLlama.
  • The project describes itself as multi-sig secured and audited, with 2 audits listed on DefiLlama.
  • Offers LST deployment for other projects that want liquid staking for their own tokens.

Watch out for

  • DefiLlama shows about $338K TVL on Stacks, far below the $10.46M+ the homepage claims, and the project does not explain the gap.
  • The audit count is inconsistent: DefiLlama lists 2 audits while the homepage says at least 3, and public sources name no auditors.
  • Advertised yields (about 10% for LiSTX, about 5.5% for LiALEX) are presented as 'up to' figures and will change from cycle to cycle.
  • The LiaBTC route depends on third parties (XLink, Babylon, Cobo), which adds counterparty and bridge-style risk.
  • Fee terms are vague: the site says 'very low fees', while the only 'zero operational fees' claim comes from a user testimonial.
  • LiaUSD is listed as 'Up coming', and the '13+ networks' claim is not backed by detail.

LISA fees

LISA does not publish a clear fee schedule. The homepage FAQ says the mechanism 'rebases with very low fees', and one user testimonial says LISA charges zero operational fees. Neither is a formal fee schedule.

Stakers should still expect network transaction costs on Stacks and any fees from the wallets or DeFi venues they use. Exact protocol fees should be checked in the LISA app and documentation before staking.

Is LISA safe?

LISA says it is multi-sig secured and audited. DefiLlama lists 2 audits, while the homepage says at least 3. Public sources name no auditors and no audit scope, so readers should read the audit reports linked from the documentation. Multi-sig security still depends on who holds the keys, and that is not described publicly.

The main risks are smart-contract bugs, depegging or illiquidity of the LST, and, for LiaBTC, reliance on XLink, Babylon and Cobo. Yields are variable. No incident is mentioned publicly, but public sources are not a full security history. This is not financial advice.

6 steps

How to get started with LISA

  1. 1

Read the LISA documentation and check the audit information before depositing.

  2. 2

Choose the asset you hold: STX for LiSTX, ALEX for LiALEX, or BTC for LiaBTC.

  3. 3

Set up a compatible wallet for the relevant network, such as a Stacks wallet for STX and ALEX.

  4. 4

Open the LISA app from the official site and confirm the current yield, cycle timing and fee terms shown there.

  5. 5

Stake a small amount first and confirm you receive the matching liquid staking token.

  6. 6

Track reward cycles and decide whether to hold the LST or use it elsewhere in DeFi, understanding the added risk.

Who LISA is for

LISA is for Stacks holders who want yield on STX or ALEX while keeping a liquid token, and for BTC holders who accept third-party dependencies in exchange for Babylon yield. It is also aimed at projects that want to launch a liquid staking token for their own asset. It is less suited to anyone who needs fully verified TVL, fee terms and audit scope.

LISA FAQs

What is LISA?

LISA is a liquid staking protocol. You stake a supported asset, such as STX, ALEX or BTC, and receive a liquid staking token (LST) that earns yield and can be used elsewhere in DeFi. DefiLlama tracks it on Stacks.

Which tokens does LISA support?

The homepage lists BTC (through LiaBTC), STX (LiSTX) and ALEX (LiALEX). A stablecoin product, LiaUSD, is marked as upcoming. The project also says it will add more assets over time.

How much yield does LISA pay?

LiSTX earns through Stacks stacking, with an average bi-weekly cycle and a stated yield of up to about 10%. LiALEX is described as earning up to about 5.5% from the ALEX protocol. LiaBTC earns Babylon Bitcoin yield with no rate stated. These are the project's own figures and can change.

How are LISA rewards paid?

Rewards are paid after each participating cycle ends, and the way they are paid depends on the token. LISA supports both rebasing tokens, where your token count grows, and yield-bearing tokens, where each token's value grows.

Is LISA safe?

The homepage says LISA is multi-sig secured and audited. It says at least 3 audits have been completed, while DefiLlama lists 2. The project does not name the auditors, so check the project's documentation. No LST is risk-free.

Does LISA charge fees?

The homepage claims that LISA charges 'very low fees', and one user testimonial says LISA charges zero operational fees. Exact fee terms are not stated publicly, so check the documentation or the app before staking.

Can projects launch their own liquid staking token on LISA?

LISA says projects can have a liquid staking token deployed for their own token, secured by multi-sig. Eligibility is explained in the project's documentation.
